Romain Loeffel extends his contract with GSHC

The leaders of Genève-Servette Hockey Club are proud to announce that 24-year old Swiss defender Romain Loeffel has extended his contract until the end of the 2017-2018 season.

Since his arrival in Geneva in late January 2014, Romain Loeffel has taken a new dimension. Native of La Chaux-de-Fonds he has become a pillar of Servette’s defence with his remarkable attacking skills. As for the start of the 2015-2016 season, it goes without saying that he has exceeded all expectations with a return of 20 points over 25 matches.

Romain is also one of the architects of Genève-Servette’s recent successful power play. His vision and shooting skills have given Chris McSorley several tactical options in special situations.

Reactions
Chris McSorley: ’We are very happy to announce that Romain Loeffel has extended his contract for another two years. Since his arrival almost two years ago, Romain has played a significant role in the team’s core. He adds a lot of attacking impetus to the defence, on top of being one of our supporters’ favourite players.’

Romain Loeffel: ’Since the beginning of the contract talks, I hoped to stay in Geneva. GSHC is a club that has enabled me to revive my career after my misfortunes in Fribourg. The coaches also knew to trust me with the responsibilities I craved. I am really proud to play with Genève-Servette for another two years. It makes me happy to train and play with this group of friends. I think this shows on the ice too, which I am certain will eventually help us win a trophy – one of my objectives. All this means I have no desire to go anywhere else, as I know I still have much to offer Genève-Servette.’
